Division 22 · Candidate Records

Request your file.

You are entitled to the record. Not an explanation, not a reason, the record: what was entered about you, what a system decided about you, and who read it before you were told no. The right is Article 15 of the GDPR, it costs you nothing, and it is one of the few instruments on this site that a candidate holds and an employer does not.

This generates a working request, addressed to whichever company declined you. It runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere by this page.

Leave blank and the letter is addressed generically; most companies publish a data protection or privacy contact if you search "[company] data protection officer" or "[company] privacy policy".

How this actually works. Article 15 gives you the right to a copy of your personal data and to know the logic behind any automated decision that affects you (Article 22, where it applies). A company has one month to respond, extendable by two more if the request is complex, and it may not charge you for a first copy. Silence past the deadline is itself something a data protection authority will act on.
What this is not. It will not get you the job, and it will not tell you why you were rejected in language you will like. What it does is make the file real: a written record that either exists, in which case you now hold a copy of it, or does not, in which case a company that ran your application through a system it cannot now describe has a harder afternoon than you did.

Yieldwell is a candidate intake division of the evil1 group. This tool generates a real, usable legal request; it is the one instrument on this site that is not satire. Return to the division
